Late Evening at The Chatterbox

Nice little happy hour with Alicia on Monday at The Chatterbox. Twas one of those evenings where we still had things to do upon coming home, but sometime around 8:30pm, it was time to get out of the house.

Me? I'm a huge fan of the going-out-after-dinner-hours. Just feels awesome to break routine.

Nothing special discussed, but definitely a good time to brainstorm July, which starts tomorrow.

Back!

Hey, just a note: I'm posting a few days into history, then hoping to get back on the wagon and post again. Please review the glut of new posts and wish me luck keeping up with posts.

Running again!

Something about exclusively eating pizza and Chinese for breakfast, lunch and dinner for two days motivated me to get running today. Funny how that works.

I think it's been a month since I ran, so it was painful. But I pushed myself all the way to the river and back, including a small jaunt along the river on a fantastically secluded path:

Grand total distance? 3.89 miles. Longest I've ever...  well - I didn't run it straight. there was a lot of walking after mile two. And I'm sure I've walked farther at events such as the State Fair. At the very least, it's the longest I've ever gone out "running" and then subsequently traveled on foot. Total time was 40 minutes. It's going to take me a couple more trips out to run straight for 3 miles again. But darn it, I did it on the cruise ship, which was sandwiched by heavy drinking and eating. I can do it!

Pride Weekend

It was Pride Weekend in Minneapolis, something I'd never attended. But coworkers were suggesting it's like a mini-state fair. So I figured it was worth a trip.

Yeah - fun. Lots of booths and people watching. Plus, Loring Park is fantastic. Check out this sculpture:

Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate. It full-on down-poured:

Minnesota Public Radio's booth gave-way to the rain! ouch!

Other Pride Weekend bullet-points:
  • I biked there! It was awesome, and surprisingly easy
  • Cheese curds and ice coffee is all I consumed, unfortunately
  • Good to see people getting to dress differently - it was almost a costume kinda place

City Center Sign

Leaving work on Thursday, this was sitting around. It's the sign saying "City Center", which is the building I work in.

Nothing too special here, just cool to see the sign up close.

It's got awesome large lettering that hipsters would store in a corner or use as a side table.

Cube Art

I've been craving something on my cube walls lately. Over the weekend, I found an art magazine at Barnes & Noble that was filled with interesting illustrations.

Two hours and an exacto knife later, I had a ton of art ready for my cube wall.

I went for interesting or thought provoking more than art I was in love with, so there's some strange stuff up there. But I think it adds some serious character (and color!) to my cube.

Awesome Side Table

Saw this bad boy at Arhaus in the Galleria. Barely visible below is the crank that raises this table up to a cocktail table or down for a small breakfast table.

Basically wrought iron. I've gotta have a place someday to fit a table like this.

Garage Sale Find

Neighborhood garage sale! Found this bad boy:

It's a coffee percolator that must have been used in a church basement last, as the coffee is that bad (it barely heats up). Still - next time the Copeland's host a shindig, expect to see this serving you java.

Neighborhood stickers

One of my favorite things from Brooklyn was the guerrilla art everywhere. Every building, bar, light-pole and sidewalk had stickers from god knows where. Nice to see them popping up around Minneapolis, too. Gives ya something to look at as you walk, you know?

A Cupcake Social

Croissants during the morning (9am to 11am M - Sat) at the new cupcake place in our neighborhood. Square style and with stuff in 'em (eggs, tomato, etc.). Future intentions are definitely to take advantage.

Nephew Graduation!

At the Target Center, I got the pleasure of watching Brady (my nephew) graduate part of the Lakeville class of 2014. Huzzah!
